Yoga Studio in The Works
I have been teaching yoga at a gym in West Memphis, AR for 4 years now. I have been grateful to have a place to call home there and great students who have become very faithful and dedicated to my classes. One day I was walking by a room that use to be a nail salon and the thought came to me, "hmm, I would love to have a yoga studio in that room... I could have dim lighting, space heaters for warmth, and a private room for my students...AND I could have more flexible times to teach classes since step aerobics is usually going on in the prime time hours.." So I went to the owner and asked her if I could put a yoga studio in that room. After a couple days, I got my answer: "YES!!" Since then I have been racking my brain with details on how to make the space work.
I have had help. Ann Collard has been brainstorming with me on this project. We purchased bamboo curtains, candles, baskets, and various other decor for the space. Yesterday we worked on the room for 5 hours stripping the floors, painting the walls, trim, and door. Unfortunately, there was nail polish spills on the floor that just won't budge. We have used a buffer, scraper, nail polish remover, ammonia but it appears the stain is in the tile.
I came up with the logo this morning. I created in mac program with the help of my husband.
I am looking forward to opening the studio soon.
Today Ann and I plan to finish stripping the floors and hanging the curtains.
Annie found some chandeliers that we plan to hang from the ceiling to add even better atmosphere.
Check out the website I created for The Works: http://www.fitnessintheworks.com
I plan to put a link for the studio once it is finished.
